Where PEI is commonly considered
PEI is often selected when a project needs a balance of heat resistance, stiffness, electrical insulation and predictable dimensions. It is commonly used for electrical housings, test fixtures, aerospace interior components, medical and laboratory equipment, and precision machined parts. Review heat exposure, electrical requirements, chemical contact and surface-finish needs before choosing a grade.

PEI material selection notes
PEI can be a practical option where dimensional stability and electrical insulation matter, but PEEK, PPS, PSU or PPSU may be more suitable for other processing or service conditions. Compare the full operating environment rather than one property alone.
